How did the two of you meet?

Tavis and I met in 2003 through an internet dating website. We attended the same University, but our paths never crossed until we logged on. He paid $19.99 to email me, and, in my opinion, it was the best $19.99 he has spent since!

How did the proposal take place?

Tavis proposed on our six year anniversary. We were standing outside, playing with our dog Merlin. I had my back to him, he said my name, and when I turned around, he was down on one knee.

In what ways have you prepared to make your wedding day unique and special to the two of you?

We wanted a wedding ceremony that was personal and special to us, and we wanted an officiate who knew us and was special to us. We spoke with Tavis’ father and he agreed to officiate our wedding. So, on March 5, 2010, Tavis and I went to the courthouse and were legally married. And, on March 20, 2010, his father presided over our public vows. We got the best of both worlds. We had a day to ourselves, making memories with each other at the courthouse that day, and we got the big wedding ceremony we wanted.

What has been the most challenging experience throughout this process and do you have any advice for future brides?

For me, the most challenging part of the planning process was deciding the right vendors for our wedding. I tried on seventy-five dresses at three different boutiques, spoke with three photographers, and met with three florists. In the end, I chose the people that I clicked with and who made me feel comfortable and , most importantly, special. their banquet halls, and raved about the food and the service. I looked at two of their banquet halls, and decided on the Marquise because of the professionalism and friendliness that I experienced. I looked to Sarah McHale for guidance and felt comfortable asking her for recommendations, and, on her advice, looked to Spring Grove Cemetery which is where our ceremony was. I spoke to three different florists. The found the first two by seeing commercials on television. The third florist, and the one we chose, was a recommendation from my hair stylist who just got married herself. We found our photographer, Peter Lubon, through a male friend whose daughter had recently used him. I was not shy in asking anyone, young or old, male or female for their input! I also used bridal websites to find my travel agent for the honeymoon and the DJ, and to look up feedback on my other vendors. Whether by word of mouth or through bridal websites, I found the vendors that made our wedding day amazing.
